Pandawa Beach
The hidden beach behind a carved limestone corridor.
The place
Pandawa sits behind a wall of cliff that kept it quiet for years, until a cutting was driven through to the sand. The arrival, past carved statues set into the rock, is theatrical, and the beach that opens up is one of the widest on the peninsula.
What to expect
A developed public beach: rows of loungers and umbrellas, warungs behind the sand, kayaks and paddleboards for hire, and calmer water than the west-coast surf beaches. It is set up for an easy day rather than a wild one.
Good to know
There is road access and parking at the top and the walk down is easy. It fills on weekends and holidays. Bring cash for loungers and food.
Nearby
Gunung Payung and Green Bowl beaches are close along the south coast, and Melasti and the Ungasan clifftop belt are a short drive west.
