The place
Balangan trades the tight, dramatic cove look for length and openness: a broad crescent of sand with fishing boats and simple warungs, and cliffs low enough that the walk down is gentler than most Bukit beaches.
What to expect
Surfers at the reef end, sunbathers spread along the sand, and a run of warungs for a long lunch. The mood is unhurried. Swimming depends on the tide over the reef.
Good to know
Access is easier here than at Bingin, parking is available up top, and sunset is the busy hour. Bring cash.
