Villa Blanche is one of Assagao's original brunch spots — a European (strongly German-leaning) bistro set in a heritage villa with soothing blue walls, mosaic artwork and a leafy garden. It made its name on breakfast and its Sunday brunch, and it still trades on that: freshly baked breads, cakes and pies, big egg plates, waffles, salads and house drinks, served slowly in a homely, unhurried setting. It's a daytime place rather than a dinner destination, and it sits at the premium end for what it is, but the appeal is the atmosphere as much as the food. Two important caveats: it is seasonal — historically closed from around May until the end of September — and at the time of writing some listings show conflicting status, so it's worth confirming it's currently trading before you plan a visit.
