HillTop

Hilltop is a cornerstone of Goa's trance mythology. An open-air dance ground set among the palms of Vagator, between Vagator and Anjuna, it's one of the venues most associated with the psychedelic-trance scene that made this corner of Goa famous. For decades it has hosted parties under the sky and, more recently, become a key stage for large festivals — most notably around the New Year and Sunburn/Hilltop festival dates in the December–January peak.

The signature experience is the Sunday session in season: a daytime-into-evening open-air party, international and local DJs playing Goa trance and techno, and a mixed global crowd of travellers, backpackers and scene regulars. Note that noise-pollution rules cap outdoor music relatively early, so the famous sessions run in defined windows rather than all night — check the schedule before you go, as programming is seasonal and event-driven. It's raw, atmospheric and history-soaked rather than polished; that's precisely the point. This is the real Goa trance experience, not a manufactured one.
