A dramatic milky-white cascade deep in the jungle, spectacular, but it takes some effort to reach.
Sonauli, Sanguem (South Goa) · Goa
Dudhsagar is one of India's most spectacular waterfalls, a thundering curtain of milky-white water down a green hillside. The jeep-and-trek approach is part of the experience, though guides can be difficult.
One of India's most dramatic waterfalls.
Most powerful during and just after the rains.
The off-road approach through forest is part of the payoff.
The water runs a milky white, which is how the falls get their name, and the cascade is most powerful during and just after the monsoon, when the volume and mist are sublime. The surrounding jungle is thick and alive.
From Calangute or South Goa (~85 km) you book a shared Bolero jeep trip, around ₹900 per person, covering the ~₹600 jeep ride and ~₹300 forest entry. The jeep runs ~12 km off-road through jungle to the falls; there is also a roughly 3-hour trek option for which a guide is compulsory. Book the trip from your hotel so you're not arranging transport back afterwards, and aim to reach the start by 8am.
Eat before you go, there are virtually no good restaurants near the falls, and wear sturdy shoes and carry water. Some guides have been reported as rude; if the behaviour feels off, cut the trip short and report it.
