Colva, historically "Silver Sands", is South Goa's most popular beach, its white sand noticeably smoother and softer than North Goa's shores. There are water sports and beachside shacks, and a sunset ranked among the South's best, but come morning for peace; by evening it crowds and gets loud.

The white sand is visibly smoother and softer underfoot than North Goa's, and the sunset is counted among South Goa's best. Shacks line the shore for food, drinks and water sports. Mornings are fresh and serene; by evening the crowds arrive and competing music from the many shacks turns to ear-splitting noise.
Water sports are abundant and easily arranged on the sand, and the beach is well connected. The sheer number of shacks and their clashing music make evenings especially loud; shack food is hit-or-miss (regulars rate Baga's higher).
Come early morning for the beach at its quietest and best. The "Silver Sands" name reflects a once-pristine reputation, cleanliness has slipped lately, with litter now washing ashore. Skip peak evening hours if noise and crowds bother you.
