Basilica of Bom Jesus

The basilica is a landmark of Goa's Portuguese-colonial and Christian heritage, housing the body and relics of St. Francis Xavier on the right-side altar, one of Goa's most important historical sites.

For pilgrims and visitors it's both a spiritual centre and a window into Goa's colonial past; the relics of St. Francis Xavier draw pilgrims, while the architecture and history draw travellers.

Built in old Portuguese style, the church is stunning in design and well-maintained throughout; the serene, peaceful interior reflects that careful upkeep. Note a dress code, covered clothing is required to enter, and there's ample parking.
